EduRecoveryHub features N.C. Office of

Learning Recovery + Acceleration

The N.C. Department of Public Instruction, using federal relief funds, launched the Office of Learning Recovery and Acceleration (OLR) to help schools navigate the challenges of the pandemic. The OLR aims to identify the most promising and effective investments to get students back on track and to establish a long-term and data-driven approach to understanding and accelerating pandemic-era learning. As part of the state’s school recovery strategy, NCDPI will work to prioritize the role of data, research, and program evaluation to encourage and empower smart and impactful district investments. North Carolina students made significant strides in pandemic recovery during the 2021-22 school year, NCDPI reported in April. That report and the subsequent launch of this dedicated office for measuring and strengthening learning recovery provides a rare foundation for schools and districts in the state.
