Meet the 2021 North Carolina Teacher of the Year

Eugenia Floyd, a fourth-grade teacher at Mary Scroggs Elementary School in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school district, has been named the 2021 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Teacher of the Year. She was selected from a field of nine finalists representing the state’s eight education districts and charter schools. Floyd succeeds the 2020 Teacher of the Year, Maureen Stover, a science teacher at Cumberland International Early College High School in Fayetteville and one of four finalists for the national Teacher of the Year. Smithsonian Science for the Classroom

In its ongoing launch of the Smithsonian Science for North and South Carolina Classrooms project funded by the U.S. Department of Education, nearly 100 North Carolina teachers from 12 schools in Alexander, Burke, Caldwell and Polk County Schools, participated in virtual teacher professional development in preparation for facilitating Smithsonian Science for the Classroom engineering modules with their third, fourth, and fifth graders during the remainder of the school year.

Synergy Conference 2021

Space Day 2021

PARI's annual open house is for Saturday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Rosman, N.C. General admission will be free for all visitors. Museum galleries will be open and a variety of free activities will be available, with a few special ticketed experiences. Learn more.
