CASMT grant applications close next week

The Career Award for Science and Mathematics Teachers (CASMT) was created by the Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF) to recognize teachers who have demonstrated solid knowledge of STEM content and have outstanding performance records in educating children. CASMT applications for the next cycle are open until 4 p.m. EDT next Wednesday (Sept. 30). CASMT is a five-year award available to teachers in North Carolina public primary and secondary schools. Funding provides $175,000 during the grant period to eligible teachers and presents opportunities for professional development and collaboration with other master STEM teachers who will help to ensure their success and their satisfaction with the field of teaching. Special consideration will be given to teachers working in hard-to-staff, economically-deprived classrooms in North Carolina. Special consideration also will be given to efforts that integrate environmental science and climate change into STEM-related curriculum. BWF supports these awards with annual installments. Download the flyer and get more information. Visit this website for complete guidelines and to apply. A Twitter Q&A also is ongoing between prospective CASMT applicants, current and past CASMT awardees. The hashtag to participate is #bwfcasmtchat.
