  Grant helps launch STEM Northeast Network

The NCEast Alliance will receive $150,000 from the Golden LEAF Foundation over the next two years to support the development of a STEM Northeast Network in several northeastern North Carolina counties. The grant will support the design of a regional professional learning program that initially focuses on Career-Connected, Project Based Learning (PBL) for middle school teacher teams. STEM Northeast hopes to help northeastern school districts take advantage of some of the programs that have benefited STEM East school districts as well as promote all programs available to school districts. New era of Career and Technical Education

Perkins V, which went into effect July 1, aims to provide more students with access to high-quality training for in-demand careers. As of today, the U.S. Department of Education has received, reviewed, and approved every state’s Perkins V one-year transition plan.

The North Carolina Center for Afterschool Programs is now offering a way for ALL people to be "STEM People" through new STEM lesson plans for out-of-school time providers. Visit their website to access this incredible resource.



Applications for PRISM open in September

The Burroughs Wellcome Fund's Promoting Innovation in Science and Mathematics, or PRISM, grant applications for 2019 selections opens to North Carolina teachers Sept. 16.

NCI SBIR Funding Workshop

The National Cancer Institute’s Small Business Innovation Research Development Center Program will present funding opportunities and other commercialization resources for entrepreneurs and small businesses at UNC on July 19.
