Two NC educators among nation's best STEM teachers

Heather Landreth (Winterville | K-6, Mathematics) and Laura Thomas (Raleigh | K-6, Science) were among 140 individuals and organizations nationwide recognized this month as recipients of the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, or PAEMST. View all of the year's recipients. PAEMST is awarded annually by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), with the National Science Foundation (NSF), for their excellence in teaching or mentoring in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). It is the highest recognition that a K-12 mathematics or science (including computer science) teacher may receive for outstanding teaching in the United States. The winners are selected by a panel of distinguished scientists, mathematicians, and educators following an initial selection process at the state level. Each recipient receives a $10,000 award from the NSF, which manages program. Congratulations to our North Carolina recipients. You make us proud!. Enjoy your e-Update.
