Applications now open for BWF CASMT grants

The Career Award for Science and Mathematics Teachers is a five-year award available to outstanding science and/or mathematics teachers in North Carolina public schools. Funding provides $175,000 during the grant period ($35,000 per year) to eligible teachers who have demonstrated knowledge of science and/or mathematics content and have outstanding performance records in educating children. The Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF) will support up to six CASMT awards with annual installments as noted above. Electronic applications only will be accepted now through September. STEM stars shine at 2018 STEMmy's

The 3rd annual STEMmy Awards this week celebrated individuals and organizations from the RTP community who continuously show extraordinary enthusiasm and efforts within the dynamic fields of STEM. Congratulations to all winners recognized this year. Great job STEM in the Park for hosting another great annual event at RTP Headquarters.



Results shared on LASER i3 validation study

In 2010, the U.S. Department of Education awarded the SSEC a five-year Investing in Innovation (i3) validation grant to evaluate the LASER model’s efficacy in systemically transforming science education. While the grant has ended, the work has not. Partners in all three regions (including North Carolina) are still working to improve STEM education. We encourage you to view the video and provide thoughts and feedback in the public discussion section.

2018 Aurora Fossil Festival

The 25th Anniversary of the Aurora Fossil Festival this week also celebrates the 40th birthday of the Aurora Fossil Museum. Opening ceremonies begin at 6 p.m. on Friday. Learn more.
