Four receive first Dr. Samuel Houston Leadership Awards

The North Carolina Alliance for School Leadership Development (NCASLD) and the North Carolina School Superintendents’ Association (NCSSA) recognized four education leaders this month to receive the inaugural Dr. Samuel Houston Leadership Award. Learn about each recipient and read the full story. Quick reminder that applications for the 2018 Student STEM Enrichment Program (SSEP) grant awards are due April 18. Get more details here. Speaking of events, the NC Science Festival kicks off next month (April), and the NC STEM Center has more than 600 STEM Opportunities currently listed in the portal. Use the “Find” feature on the site and locate events that you might find interesting near you during the annual festival. For example, STEMville Science Symposium at the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is a wonderful opportunity for children to explore different types of STEM careers! Check it out. 67 NC teachers receive PRISM awards

The Burroughs Wellcome Fund, with a total allocation of more than $200,000 this year, has selected 67 North Carolina teachers to receive Promoting Innovation in Science and Mathematics (PRISM) awards.



Students@Work returns in North Carolina

Students@Work, the annual job shadowing and mentoring initiative organized by the North Carolina Business Committee for Education (NCBCE) and N.C. Department of Public Instruction, is happening now through March 28.



USPS to offer commemorative STEM stamps

The United States Postal Service is issuing a set of four non-denominated (50¢) forever stamps on April 6 to commemorate STEM education.
