Friday, June 9, come see stars, planets and amazing celestial views as the Pigsah Astronomical Research Institute- (PARI) hosts a guided tour of the galaxy.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. with a presentation followed by a campus tour including a trip to the Exhibit Gallery and the Nature Center. At the Nature Center, PARI astronomers and volunteers will have the chance to use PARI telescopes and showcase the depth of the night sky.

According to PARI Education Director Christi Whitworth, early summer is the best time to view the Sagittarius/ Scorpius region and during this presentation attendees will learn what to look for and where to find it.

“Our guided tour will also include constellations and other interesting night-sky phenomena,” said Whitworth. “If you have never seen our galaxy from a dark sky location like PARI, you’re in for a special treat. It’s truly spectacular.”

Reservations are required and will be accepted until 3 p.m. the day of the event. Evening at PARI programs cost $20 per adult, $15 for students/seniors/military and $5 for children 6-11 years old. Children under 5 years old are admitted free. The event will take place regardless of the weather so attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Online registration is available here.
